About Us
The Visualist is Chicago’s real-time archive for current and past visual art events. Our free, ad-free, publicly available calendar helps people discover exhibitions, openings, talks, performances, and other visual arts programming throughout the city. We also maintain a growing archive of Chicago’s visual art history, documenting everything from exhibitions at established institutions to apartment galleries, basement performances, mobile projects, and other ephemeral events that might otherwise be lost.
The Visualist is managed by culture/MATH, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and is sustained through the participation of Chicago’s art community. Our goal is to make Chicago’s visual arts history accessible to everyone while preserving the work happening here as it happens.
